Steve Stricker

Steve Striker, an American professional golfer, plays on the PGA Tour and has 12 tournaments to his name including the 2001 WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship and two FedEx Cup playoff events. Striker was born in Edgerton and grew up playing golf at the Lake Ripley Country Club in Cambridge.

He turned professional in 1990 and started his career at the Canadian Professional Golf Tour. After that Striker joined the PGA Tour in 1994 and his first success at the top level arrived in 1996 when he notched up two wins at Kemper Open and Motorola Western Open. He finished runners up in the 1998 PGA Championship which is his best result at a major championship till date. Steve won his third and most prestigious PGA tour title at 2001 WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship by defeating Pierre Fulke.

Steve Striker lost his PGA Tour card in 2004 after going through a slump period and several years of poor form. In 2006 he returned to the PGA Tour and he was voted for the PGA Tour Comeback Player of the Year.  He won The Barclays Tournament in 2007 and also earned a spot for himself at 2007 President Cup team. He ended that year on No. 4 spot in the Official World Golf Ranking and finished off with a runners-up trophy at the 2007 FedEx Cup Playoffs.

Striker enjoyed his most successful season on PGA Tour in 2009 with three tournament wins and acquired the 2nd most amount of money. He first won at the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial, then followed it up with a win at the John Deere Classic in Silvis and lastly won the Deutsche Bank Championship on September.

Steve Stricker won his last tournament on the PGA Tour at Hyundai Tournament of Champions at Kapalua in 2012. He has been considered as one of the best players without a Major Championship.
