DONALD WILL FIGHT BACK

Rory McIlroy is currently the world’s number one golfer and the man he displaced to become the top ranked golfer in the world, Luke Donald is not at all heartbroken about being displaced from the top, stating that this gives him the chance to improve on his performances so that he can reclaim the top spot from one of his very good friends on and off the golf course.

Speaking to the media after McIlroy had taken the number one crown; Donald said that he was at home playing with his daughters in the backyard when Rory McIlroy was playing in the Honda Classics. He added that he went out of the gym to meet his daughters in the garden when he heard that McIlroy had a two shot lead at the top and was playing the last hole of the Classics and he was sure that he deserved to be number one, having played the best golf on Tour for almost the last six months.

But Luke Donald also added that he had no disappointment in not being the world number one anymore, citing that he played some of his best golf when he was not at the top of the rankings, which was one the reasons why he came out of nowhere to take the number one crown back in 2011. He also added that it was difficult to go very far in terms of performances when one is at the top of the rankings and this fall from the top might just turn out to be a blessing in disguise for the 34 year old Englishman.

Luke Donald is scheduled to play in the Transitions Championships this week when none of his top two rivals McIlroy and Lee Westwood is playing which gives him the chance to cut back on the lead the two of them has at the top.
