Luke Donald to play in 2013 Malaysian Open

Luke Donald, the world number two golfer has confirmed that he would take part in the Maybank Malaysian Open 2013 golf event that will start on 21st March and will go on till 24th March. The 2013 Maybank Malaysian Open is considered as the most prestigious golf championship in this country as well as a leading national open in this region.

In the past, this event has hosted many top regional golf players as well as some of the best international golfers. This year, the event is back with a prize kitty of $ 2.75 million and this prize money is $ 250000 more compared to last year’s event. This is the very first time when the English golfer Luke Donald will play in this tournament.

The thirty five year old golf player is really determined to get back the world number one position in 2013 from Rory McIlroy, who was one of his team mates in the Ryder Cup 2012 where Europe defeated United States in September 2012.

Maybank chairman told that the confirmation of Luke Donald’s name is really another boost for the Maybank Malaysian Open. Since they took over the title sponsorship of this event in the year 2006, they have endeavored to bring world class golf players to Malaysia.

Donald, who is mainly a United States based PGA Tour golfer, had an outstanding season in 2011 by winning many golf events across the world.
