Donald Achieves 1st Win Of The Year

Luke Donald’s fans must be celebrating big off late- their favorite golfer has been able to defend the esteemed 2013 Dunlop Phoneix trophy in Japan recently, landing up with his first ever win for the year.

The 35-year-old Briton started off the final session with a 2 shot lead Kim Hyung-Sung (South Korea) post his 2-over-par 73 in 1st round with 66 & 65 scores. Donald had 2 bogeys and 7 birdies while heading into final round at par-71 on the famous Nippon tour to end up at fourteen-under 270.

Kim just managed a 1-under 7-0.the South Korea golfer came up with the second position at the 2013 Dunlop Phoenix championship.

Shingo Katayama from Japan came up with the 3rd position on 7 under with a single stroke below Kim and it was Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano from Spain who tied up with Nippon’s SDhunsule Sonoda for the 4th place 3 shots back further.

21 year old Hideki Matsuyama, the money leader of the Japan Tour, was bunched 1 stroke back further with Brad Kennedy from Australia and Lee Kyoung-Hoon from South Korea.

Donald was seemingly excited with his break free defending champion status at the esteemed Nippon championship. He was especially elated as it brought him the first ever win for an otherwise dry 2013  and came after his last win at Dunlop Phoneix tournament in 2012. “I am very excited”, remarked the erstwhile World # 1 while speaking about his feelings regarding the recent win. “My past triumph as a pro was in 2012 at Dunlop Phoneix only.”

Dunlop Phoneix is said to be one of the richest sports tournaments held at Japan which attracts participation from some of the most high profile golfers of the world. The Brit golfer is the second player to achieve 2 straight win in a row after Tiger Woods who came up with a similar feat in 2004 & 2005.
